FAQ's

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is a weekend-long coding event where you turn your crazy ideas into real-world projects. We provide food, swag, mentors, workshops, guest speakers, hardware, and so much more! You do your hacking, and we will do the rest.

Who can attend?

SigmaHacks is open to all high schoolers. If you have graduated from high school, you can apply to be a mentor. Unfortunately, we are not accepting middle school participants at this time.

What if I do not know how to code?

Not a problem at all! SigmaHacks is the ideal place to learn how to code, and we will have plenty of mentors and workshops to help you along the way.

What if I do not have a team or idea?

Do not worry! At the beginning of the hackathon, we will have team forming activities, along with workshops for brainstorming ideas!

What should I bring?

Hackers should bring a laptop, and a valid ID (or some sort of student ID). We also recommend that you bring your phone, chargers, power strips, toiletries, a sleeping bag, and any other supplies you might need.

Do I need to stay overnight?

No; although we highly recommend staying for the entire duration of the hackathon. Doors will be closed from 10pm to 7am, and you will have to be signed out by a legal guardian.

I love what Sigma Hacks is doing! How can I help?

Sigma Hacks is a non-profit organization. If interested in learning more about how you can help support this event, please reach out to our team at sponsor@sigmahacks.org.

Is there a code of conduct?

Yes! You can find it here.

How much does it cost?

SigmaHacks is a 100% free for all hackers. We provide food, drinks, swag, WiFi, prizes, and more, all free of charge.
